IM Swedish Development Partner (IM) is a Swedish development organisation fighting and exposing poverty and exclusion operating in five regions worldwide. The organisation was founded in 1938 to defend human dignity, as a reaction against the fascist ideologies, hatred and violence that spread in Europe at the time. IM promote the development of a strong and democratic civil society by collaborating with partner organisations. IM has been working in the Middle East since the late 1960s in the area of intellectual disability. At present IM Middle East works with partners in Jordan, Palestine and Lebanon in the areas of disability and women’s rights. A regional office was established in Amman in 2014 and there are country offices in Amman and Ramallah.

IM regional office and Jordan office are working with partners in the areas of women’s rights, rights of persons with disabilities as well as strengthening civil society. Other components of the work are economic empowerment.

The Programme Officer (PO) will be responsible for assigned regional and Jordan partners. The work includes overall planning, support and follow up with the partner on all aspects of their work. The PO will be responsible for suggesting new partners for selection, conducting assessment, follow-up and management in accordance with IM’s approach to partnership, strategic processes and qualitative requirements. In addition, PO will support the development of financial and narrative plans and reports, in accordance with requirements for non-governmental organizations and IM requirements.

The position requires extensive experience from development cooperation particularly in supporting civil society organizations as agents of change. A successful candidate will have a strong commitment to fighting poverty and exclusion, sharing IMs approach to partnership and rights-based development cooperation. The position requires the ability to travel for work within the region as well as having a minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience. Strong analytical and networking skills as well as excellent English is essential.
